SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS FOR FOOD SECURITY

Jan 20

Introduction

This course is designed to provide a deep understanding of how sustainable agricultural value chains contribute to food security. The course covers the full spectrum of food production, from farm to fork, with a focus on improving the efficiency, equity, and sustainability of these chains. Participants will explore key topics such as value chain analysis, sustainability metrics, market systems, and policy frameworks, alongside real-world case studies. By the end of the course, participants will be well-equipped to apply innovative strategies for building resilient and sustainable agricultural value chains that enhance food security.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Analyze the structure and functioning of agricultural value chains and their role in promoting food security.
  2. Assess the challenges and opportunities for enhancing sustainability in agricultural value chains.
  3. Design strategies to optimize efficiency, inclusivity, and resilience in agricultural value chains.
  4. Evaluate the impact of various stakeholders and market forces on sustainable value chains.
  5. Formulate actionable interventions to improve value chain sustainability and food security outcomes.
